If you are nature lovers and you are in search of adventure, this is the tour for you! Located just 2 hours east of Mexico City, you can experience the beauty of Iztaccihuatl, the third highest mountain in the country, also known as "Sleeping Woman" or "White Woman". With a height of more than 5,000 metres, the ascent of this dormant volcano offers beautifully spectacular and breathtaking views of the active volcano Popocatepetl, or "Smoking Mountain", the eternal companion of Iztaccihuatl.
Make your own way to the agreed meeting point for the eastbound trip to Tlalmanalco. Once at the foot of the volcano, you will have breakfast to charge your batteries for the ascent of the mountain. Choose from a selection of traditional Mexican breakfasts like quesadillas, tamales, birria, eggs and more with the option of vegetarian dishes.
After breakfast the journey will continue by car to "La Joya”, the famous "Paso de Cortés". At a height of 3,700 meters, this pass is named for the Spanish Conquistadors who crossed the mountain on their way to Tenochtitlan (ancient Mexico City) in 1519. It is here where the ascent up the mountain begins. There are different routes to climb, for beginners, experienced and professional mountaineers. We will take an intermediate route that will provide both beginners and more experienced trekkers a fun route up the mountain. As the stunning landscapes change along the hike, the climate changes and seasonal snow appears; the vegetation and silence of the place will give a special touch to the breathtaking views of the valley of Mexico.
Depending on the physical condition of the participants of the group, you will climb up to 4,200 - 4,800 metres near the snowline and glacier (depending on the time of year). Take some free time on the mountain to reflect, meditate, take pictures, or just enjoy the beauty of nature. Make your descent back down to base camp and then take your return transfer back to Mexico City.
